Counting Down to Next!

29 May

Meeting went very well.

I was a bit disappointed at first, but I think I’m okay with the decision now.

Left the house at 07:30 for an appointment at 09:30! We got there a bit early, but we didn’t know how traffic would be in Swansea.

Got measured before the meeting, weight and height. Then got called in, the consultant was very nice and Nia the nurse was there again. She’s lovely!

Was asked a few questions like how did I get there etc, what did I eat, which he was quite pleased about when I told him all the bad things I would eat.. he said he liked to hear that as it’s truthful and thats what they need, they can’t have people lying to them and not understanding why they got to where they are today.

He asked me what surgery I wanted and I said bypass to which he said no :( :( my bmi is too high at 65!

He thought about a balloon first but because I’ve been losing weight he didn’t want to do it.

So looks like it’s the sleeve for me, with a possible revision in the future. I was a bit upset to begin with, I just wanted the best option now and do it once and it be over with. But of course I don’t want to die either! They said the figures coming from America right now are showing the sleeve being as good as the bypass for diabetes and it going quite quick after surgery.

I hope that happens for me, I really don’t want to have this the rest of my life!

So all this time I’ve been preparing for the bypass and now I’m probably not going to get it! Typical isnt it lol

So in six to eight weeks I should get the next appointment, which I should see all the rest of the members of the team on the same day.

The only thing that can hold me up now is an appointment for sleep apnea, I guess they have to check I don’t have it, I don’t think I do though.

So roll on eight weeks and it should be soon after that!

Less than a day

27 May

This time tomorrow I shall know more about what is going on!

I’m rather excited and very nervous.

The nurse at the last meeting did say that as we had got this far we had funding, but I’m so scared I will say something that will make them change their mind. I do NOT want that to happen!

I’m hoping it will all go fast now, first consultant meeting, then anesthetist (hes the one that will make the decision!) and possibly nutritionist and psychologist, I’m hoping I don’t need those two, then back to the consultant and then I go on the waiting list, but I think that means it’s only a month away then.

Oh yes, I get the month long diet :( I was so hoping it would be the liquid or milk which is only two weeks, but no, I get to eat vegetarian protein for a month, fun fun.

I also want them to sort out the next appointment while I’m there and not wait for them to send me a letter, I kept worrying that they had sent it to me and I never got it, but luckily that didn’t happen.

I’ll let you know what happens when I get back.

Fingers crossed they don’t say I can’t have it!

Got My Letter

7 May

Been feeling a bit unhappy lately, which is probably why the lack of posts. I just wasn’t motivated enough to write anything, but as you can see by the title of this post, I got my letter this morning and it’s made me feel great.

Okay, it’s only the first appointment with the consultant, but I finally feel like It’s all going in the right direction and I have something to look forward to.

Date is for the 28th May so a few more weeks yet but I’m on my way!

I just noticed the last day I posted was my nans birthday. I’ve had all that to deal with too, with her one year anniversary, I don’t deal with it very well, so I guess that not helped me.

However I have lost 4 stone about 56lbs, but I seem to be stuck here right now. I know I’m not eating as good as I should, but I’m hoping to get a bit better with that this week.

The person who lived with me has now gone back to Liverpool, about 200 miles from me, we’re still together, and hes coming back every five weeks, it’s funny it takes something like that to realise how much you do care. I didn’t know how much I would miss him, it was only a few weeks ago I didn’t think I cared enough!

Having to everything completely on my own is very new to me. I was a little scared, especially now with two dogs, but I am managing to take them out for a mile walk every day and I’m hoping I can improve that as the weeks go on.

So I’m all excited again now. Finally looking forward to my future again.

Roll on the 28th!
